Transition Tuesday: From Windows to Mac...

Firstly, Transition Tuesday is not an idea of mine. It is some kind of a trend among Facebook users wherein some of their stuff undergoes a certain change: maybe a change of their car's color, ride height, mag wheels, et cetera. However, the foregoing is only my observation. I did not even bother to Google it up nor ask any of my friends who rode with the fad what this Transition Tuesday meant. But I think this stuff would be a good addition to my blog. It would keep this blog updated... Well.. at least during Tuesdays. Hahahaha!

Anyway, to proceed with my own "Transition Tuesday"...

Last night, a Monday, I got hold of a new MacBook Air. I brought it home, spent the night with it (surfed the net, downloaded a few movies and applications), and slept with it. This morning, I woke up very early in the morning with the excitement to once again feel the thin and sexy facade of the MacBook Air. I proceeded to update my Facebook, installed some essentials and again, downloaded some movies.

At first I was a little bit ignorant about the hullabaloos of this not very user-friendly Apple laptop but since I have this very high IQ when it comes to technology stuff, it did not take me long to familiarize with the new interface.  A few minutes and it felt like I've been using Mac's OS X for the longest time.

Truly, the features of this MacBook are awesome. Very high-tech. The trackpad's gestures to switch between apps, to close programs, to minimize and a whole lot more were just freakin' AWESOME!  And I came to a realization that I should enter the world of "Hackintoshing"-- that is incorporating Mac's OS X to a Windows-based pc or laptop -- since I want the best of both worlds: the great features of OS X and the juice and muscle a windows-based pc or laptop hardware can provide.

A night of fun with a MacBook air made me change my view on Apple's laptops. And surely, my i7 Gaming Rig will be envious. Hahaha!

Cybercrime Law -- redefining wisdom and foolishness.

I've logged in my girlfriend's Facebook account early this morning and all I saw were plain black, blue and red thumbnails of her friends' profile pictures coupled with the unsavory posts lurking around the internet for quite some time now -- some may be that user's opinion, some may be a concurrence of other's opinions. But what caught my irk was most of them were all about bashing the Cybercrime Law that came to existence a few weeks ago after your President, Benigno Aquino, Jr. has signed it into our books of statutes. But why? 

It only showed that Filipinos -- especially the generation of today -- are up to date with the current affairs of our Country... But in a bad way.

 I bet that most of these Facebook users who posted "statuses" like: "F*ck the Government! Give us our rights! Junk Cybercrime Law"; "I hate the Philippines, it is restraining my rights even up to my Facebook account, I'm gonna leave the Philippines as soon as I can", among others, didn't even bother to read the provisions of the law. Eh kung makapost kayo akala niyo naman alam niyo yung binabanatan niyo. Get your facts right first! Sure the laws in our Country (even in the other countries out there) aren't flawless... As a matter of fact they have their own loopholes... That's why Amendments exist. And most of the times, laws have to adapt to the current state of its country.

Whoever said that to you is the stupidest, most ignorant person you've met! Kalokohan yan! Why would the law prohibit such actions? What the law prohibits is the posting of libelous, defaming and derogatory remarks. Sige lang magpost ka ng magpost kahit gawin mong Twitter ang Facebook, for as long as you don't step on the personality and rights of an individual. Bawal naman talagang manira ng kapwa di ba? Try mong siraan kitang Hudas na trying hard ka! Tignan ko kung anong maramdaman mong bansot na hinayupak ka! See? Of  course the law, Our Constitution, gives us the right of free speech. But it is not to be abused. Otherwise, it will always be free speech for the dumb. Our freedom is not unlimited nor perpetual. It ceases to exist when others' rights are being impaired.

The Law has its purposes -- at all times! Talamak na ang cybercrimes ngayon: Cyber Sex, Cyber Trafficking, Cyber Voyeurism, at kung anu-ano pang mga cyber chorva! Syempre, Our legislature has  to take actions. Kaya niyo nga sila binoto eh. That's the intent of the framers, folks. Hindi naman porket may hinanaing ka sa Gobyerno eh libel na agad yun dahil sa pagpopost mo nun sa Facebook o Twitter o Tumblr mo. depende naman yun kung gaano kalala yung comment mo. 

***Nagpost lang ako ng damdamin ko sa Facebook ko, kulong na agad ako?! Sh*t sila!***
Tarantado! Kaya nga may due process tayo! And the Rules on Evidence provides that in all Criminal Cases, PROOF BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT is required bago ka maging guilty sa allegations laban sa yo. And how do you achieve that quantum of proof? Undergo trial. The internet itself is a big doubt, so why worry? Kaya ka sinampahan ng kaso kasi inapakan mo yung karapatan ng kapwa mo. Remember: Every action has its consequences.

False. In the law, Intellectual property is protected. Eh ano ba yung ina-allege laban sa kanya? Di ba plagiarism? Violation of Intellectual Property. Boom! Yan ba ang proteksiyon?

***Pano na ko gagawa ng term paper ko kung bawal na magdownload ng academic materials, files and other stuff?!***
Saang provision ng batas yan? Nasaan?! Pakita mo sakin! Ako pa mismo magpepetition sa Supreme Court! That's the problem in the modern-world students... Lahat inasa niyo na kay Mr. Google. Daig niya nga naman na kasi si Atlas at si Britannica, pati si Encarta. Kasi kay Google, copy+paste na lang, solve na ang problema mo. Isang gabi na lang ang term paper na dati rati ay buwan kung paghirapan namin. Try nating kopyahin ko yung paper mong pinaghirapan at pinagpuyatan mo in toto, tas sasabihin ko ako yung gumawa nun tas I'll get all the credits -- malay mo manalo pa ko ng Nobel Prize award dahil sa kagalingan mo... Would you not be offended?

The law may have stepped on the thin line of Constitutionality, but let the Court decide, they know what they're doing. If the submitted petitions are with merits, then restrain the law. Otherwise, let the law function to its aim. I would not comment any further because I haven't personally read the petitions submitted to the Supreme Court and because that's the right thing to do.

We are all privileged with the freedom of speech. But we are also bound to act within the scope of law and morality. Criminal Law basics (thank you, Justice Reyes for penning the Criminal Law Books and Atty. Amurao for the wisdom), Punishment is the suffering imposed upon by the State for the transgression of the law -- meaning, pag nagkasala ka, tas yung pagkakasala mo laban sa batas, marapat lang na maparusahan ka. Di ba? So kung yung Facebook account mo eh ginawa mo nang open-diary na pwedeng mabasa ng lahat ng friends mo at available sa kung sinumang gustong tumingin ng wall mo, siguraduhin mong wala kang sinisirang pagkatao o inaapakang karapatan. Simple lang naman yang Cybercrime Law na yan. Yung isang provision diyan, Libel pa din... Expanded nga lang -- to adapt to our modern-day lifestyles.

Now to all of you attention-whores who want to prove that you're better than the Lawmakers, I respect you. That's your opinion and I hope you'll likewise respect mine. I didn't made this post to question nor destroy your credibility -- this blog post is purported to be an enlightenment to those script-kiddies na gusto lang maki-ride... Dahil uso ngayon ang "Junk Cybercrime Law" movement, makikiuso na din at magpopost ng kung anu-ano laban sa gobyerno o sa mga senador or even against the Philippine Politics. Makikiuso ka, magpopost ka ng ganito, ganyan, pero tatanungin kita. Nabasa mo na ba yung batas na sinasabi mong kalokohan ng gobyerno? Ikaw ang isang malaking kalokohan! May papopost-post ka pa ng profile pic na plain color. You really think it would make you look any smarter or better? No. It only makes you look ignorant. Hindi dahil trending, tama. 

I am also not saying that I am against nor am I in favor of the passage of the Cybercrime Law. It has its good sides and bad sides. And only the right people can make it better. I am just expressing my disgust over the persons that let themselves be fooled of a media overkill. How pathetic. No offense meant, though.

Vibrant or not... Well, I don't really care.

A few minutes ago, I've decided to finally update my blog site... I was thinking of a more appealing, reader-friendly and a "happy" blog site.. So the first step was to change my blog's template... But I don't know if the one I've chosen is (insofar as others are concerned) really vibrant looking. I don't know how you define the word, or should I say I don't really care at all on how you define the same. For me, It's just totally different from the way my blog looked like before; and (at least) for me, my blog looks "happy" now... ;)

I decided (again!) to make blogging a habit... And to start it (again?!), I've decided to make by blog site's appearance look a little bit different from what it looked like when I first made it... Instead of studying for my Constitutional Law class tomorrow.. I ended up Photoshopping some pictures (trying to put the HDR effect using one photo only)... and of course... exchanging tweets with Queenie Arroyo and Anjo Pacia... I'm really addicted to Twitter and I just can't stop tweeting!

The Last Minute Christmas Wishlist...

Who Said Discrimination

Finally, A new wind is blowing. Boredom is making its way out and friendship is growing. I can say I handed discrimination its own taste of bitterness. . . of course w/ the help of my new set of friends.

I just had my first sit of coffee at the office (`twas a great one) and my first behalf of felix, I received a mug that can be used for coffee and cold drinks, courtesy again of Ate Ajie. Mind you,.. this happened an hour hour before break time. Har Har! And before I forget, I just had my first "MUG - WASHING" activity. =p

Anyweiz, an office day without Felix is so different, though i`m quickly adapting, I`m still missing our everyday laughter, But Felix`s absence sparked a new relationship with the staff. We became close, shared snacks, and the likes, a day without your work bud is a sure boredom, but fortunately for me, it has not yet visited me for this fast few days. The reason was that I`m usually pre-occupied, if not with work, with a little chit chat from my friendly staff members. And besides, I`m grateful (YeAh REALLY) to ma`am Nylda, who always keeps the office relaxed through her feel - good, oldies mush. (No she doesn`t sings them but played them in her computer with a nice set of speakers). And that`s what keeps me inspired. And I`m pretty sure the other OJT`s (From the prestigious university, Never dared mention. . . just for now) are not feeling the happiness I am feeling right now....

A taste of discrimination...

Today was really a hard day I should say... I single-handedly took care of all the photocopying and paperworks as Felix (my work buddy and good friend)was not able to go to work today because his mother was sick.. there was a lot of work for me today.. I began photocopying from 8:30 in the morning up to 10:30 more or less... then paperworks again.. haha! but I was enjoying every bit of it... hell yeah...

anyweiz.. I was not really alone.. there was this new batch of OJTs... law students from one prestigious university ( I wouldn't dare mention it for now.. Just for now... haha!). from there I thought we were all just the same... They underwent the same starting procedure as me and Felix started it... But then.. having a lil' bit of free time, ( a time to breath,.. haha! ) I realized I was having a taste of my first discrimination ( first hand! ) I saw the law students touring the northern part of the office and having themselves introduced to some of the lawyers there... A thing that we haven't experienced during our first day... they were welcomed as warm a s a friend.. of course.. they are law students compared to Political Science students like me and Felix..

But that was okay.. I'm still enjoying the warm company of my new set of friends.. the district office staff members... ( I'm thinking of making an article about them.. but maybe not so soon.. ) And of course, the lawyers that have been smiling and greeting me ever since my first day at the office... ( another article for them I'm sure )

Honestly, the feeling of discrimination did not last that much... I soon realized that maybe we are just not on the same level.. And everything's fine... I was doing great the wholeday and surprisingly, boredom didn't visit me at all.. for as long as there are orders coming from my friendly staff members and lawyers.. I will enjoy the office experience as much as I enjoy my school days...

Vacation at last! ( or maybe at least...)

Today is the night of holy Wednesday.. beginning of the holy week vacation for most of us.. I'm happy of course.. I've been spending my last week at the office... BORED... but at least, I'm learning to enjoy being bored... har har! 8 hours a day at the office is sure a helluva boredom paradise... for a newbie like me... haha! But now.. I'm starting to be happy again spending time with my laptop and a promising movie marathon ahead of me for the next 3 or 4 days.. owyeah!!!!! and after that.. another series of office works for me... I really appreciate the 4 day break...

After a long hard week....

oh my God! It's been a week since I last surfed the internet and yes.. faced my laptop... I missed doing this things... but now, before the realization that my laptop was fucked up (some idiots did it) mess my mood for blogging.. I would like to share some moments I experienced the past week.. and of course, the reason behind the long break from web surfing...

Me and my buddy/classmate/friend Felix started our on-the-job training (@PAO Manila) on March 30... It is a public attorneys' office located just beside SM Manila.. The first hours were hell! Spending the whole morning talking to each other and seating... damn! but since some of the lawyers and staff befriended us already.. we easily adjusted to the system and started to enjoy the whole experience... and now.. we have deducted 40 hours already out of the 200 hour quota... 4 weeks more and we can enjoy vacation.. if there's any left.... hahahaha!

a facebook account and a dilemma was created!

at long last! I created my Facebook account.. but God! aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggggghhhhhhhhhhh! I lost my mood... after a very long week of not spending time in front of my laptop.. here I am now.. realizing that it is fucked up! The whole programs are just messed up! missing executable files (notepad, etc..), missing desktop icons.. missing battery meter icon... damn it!

anyweiz.. kasalanan ko din nman.. I let some people use it without my supervision..

Now I'm facing a dilemma wether I will reformat my laptop or not... gggggrrrrrr!!!!!!

The Semester Finally Ends!

Well.. Here I am.. officially at the first morning of our summer vacation... Spending time with ny new laptop and at last.. posting another article in my blog...

grabe 'yung nagdaang semester.. It was so unbelievable! Parang walang nangyari.. It was like I just came to school for attendance.. well.. hindi din natin masisisi 'yung ibang professors.. at tska isa pa.. normal na din naman 'yun sa school namin... hehe..

Anyweiz.. though the last semester was not that good academically,.. It was fun,, another bunch of experiences and nerve-wrecking moments still happened..new couples.. newfound lovelifes... barkada moments.. ung mga ganung stuff.. haha! Enjoy naman diba?

Meron din namang exams na nagpakaba samin ngayong sem.. pero there's no much pressure honestly... carry lang,,, marami ding fun activities this past sem.. lalo na nung teacher's day... it was a well-prepared tribute for none other than the great "power-tripper" professor.. Jan Argy Tolentino.. hehe.. and there was the student council elections... and syempre.. a lot of drunken nights... haha!

and you know what's so special abut the end of this semester?

Graduating na kami next sem!!! yeah! this summer.. we will be on our internship... kaya it's really exciting... haha!

Tune your Firefox up!

Many have preferred the use of Mozilla Firefox than the Internet Explorer... Mainly because of Firefox's faster page load time thus making our web surfing more smooth and more enjoyable...

But do you really know that you can still speed up your internet surfing experience just by tweaking your Firefox's configuration.. I would just like to share this little trick to you guys... Hope it can be useful...

I made a discovery today. I found a computer. Wait a second, this is cool. It does what I want it to. If it makes a mistake, it's because I screwed it up. Not because it doesn't like me... Or feels threatened by me.. Or thinks I'm a smart ass.. Or doesn't like teaching and shouldn't be here...

And then it happened... a door opened to a world... rushing through the phone line like heroin through an addict's veins, an electronic pulse is sent out, a refuge from the day-to-day incompetencies is sought... a board is found. You bet your ass we're all alike... we've been spoon-fed baby food at school when we hungered for steak... the bits of meat that you did let slip through were pre-chewed and tasteless. We've been dominated by sadists, or ignored by the apathetic. The few that had something to teach found us willing pupils, but those few are like drops of water in the desert.

I just can't really get it...

dunno if they are really that good.. or if they are just envy of me... I mean.. why compete with me if we can all work together? ayt... Coping up with the fast growing technology isn't bad.. It's actually a good thing... but why? why the competition? If you don't need me... then I don't need you too... It's the way of life.. but you can't just hide the fact that you still need my computer "mad skills"... d nman sa pagmmyabang... pero it just really pisses me off! You can't just keep walking around like you're the best there is... kanya-kanya na nga tayo ng mga kliyente... may kanya2 dn teong forte.. kea pwede b? just fuck off! You can't be just competing with me the rest of your life... pasalamat keo.. d ko kayo kita pnpp2lan... auq lng n mphiya kayo... pero if you can't stop nosing on someone else's business.. fine with me.. you'll be needing me soon.. you just can't beat me.. that's for sure... The Start of "Dear Diary"

5:37 pm... @ our not yet done living room...

It's been one helluva day today.. yeah literally.. as in hell.. impiyerno! The temperature is scorching hot! Goddman it! I was on the way back home after school when I felt the sudden heat surfacing my body... I can feel the sweat pouring out of my glands... ang init pa man din sa katawan nung suot kong polo shirt.. It is one of the feelings I hate the most.. (Wish I could just be in my room with a turned on air conditioning system...) damn.. even inside the jeepney that I rode was so hot when it's supposed to be a refreshing journey... 20 minutes of a travel I never imagined I will experience...again! grabeng patok na jeep yun! napakainit tlga! shit! I kept my hopes of comfort up not until I had my back laid on the next trip I'm about to take.. a taxi ride (not the usual cabs.. but the AUV's having 10 passengers sharing the same jaunt.. a.k.a FX ride! yeah!). I was expecting for a cooler breeze.. syempre aircon yun at ang mahal ng pamasahe ko noh! but I was wrong.. maybe the weather affected even the vehicle's air conditionong system.. God I'm dying!!!! Jusko po!

but at least, I was pacified...

a really cute female student about my age from one of the most rich universities together w/ her little sister (probably around 3-5 years of age) and I will be sharing the same trip.. that means.. We will be in front of each other's faces for the next 45 mins of a searing journey...

The little girl is also cute.. she kept on smiling at me eventhough she knows that I'm a total stranger to her.. she's talkative and loud so that kept me smiling for the rest of the journey.. her "ate", having discovered her baby sister exchange smiles w/ me, glanced at me for a while and asked if I mind sharing a donut with them... Syempre pakipot ang lolo.. I declined the offer.. a simple smile has cooled up a very singe afternoon maybe for both of us.. we didn't even noticed that the trip was about to end and we're separating ways... nice afternnon din naman pla after all.. i thought...

I could have asked for the cute student's number but I didn't. Not because I'm a stupid dickhead wasting opportunities.. but just because I have this one particular girl always in my mind... Once she entered and wouldn't leave.. God I really miss her... pero sa ibang post ko na ike2wento kng sino sya.. hehehe...
